This is an extremely gentle and supportive class, designed for those recovering from or dealing with injuries, seeking deep relaxation or feeling frail. We will explore poses that will open, heal and rejuvenate your body, mind and soul. We will utilize bolsters, belts, blankets and blocks to set-up for relaxation poses, or yin yoga asanas, for long periods of time. You will feel nurtured and supported during the entire experience.
Yoga Basics I
This is still a great therapeutic yoga option for those recovering from injuries or who feel frail. We introduce or review the fundamentals of yoga in a safe, supportive & loving environment. While suitable for all levels, this class is ideal for those who have never done yoga before and for those who want to renew their practice. Beginning students will learn the basic elements of yoga postures and breathing techniques while building a solid foundation for a continuing yoga practice.
Senior Gentle Yoga
This is a 55+ class with students ranging up to mid-80’s. You are welcome to bring your own props, but these facilities do not have their own, so bring a mat & a towel and anything else to be comfortable. We stretch and strengthen all areas of the body, including wrist, hand, feet and ankle exercises, with a slightly different emphasis each week. The class creates challenge opportunities such as transitioning to standing through downward facing dog, or simply coming from seated to standing as gently as possible. Those recovering from injuries and of all ranges are welcome. We will explore poses that will open, heal and rejuvenate your body, mind and soul. You will feel nurtured and supported during the entire experience.
Meditation & Breathwork Classes & Workshops
Human beings are blessed with brainpower and imagination like no other animal, but the negative that comes along with that is our overthinking minds. When I was in Rishikesh, India, the mayor of the town greeted us & referred to the mind as, “our little rascal.” I LOVE that reference! By learning how to meditate and when practiced regularly, we find brief moments of our thoughts being stilled, and it is in those brief moments that we connect to our divine inner spirit. Knowing and being. Slowly, we awaken to our true innate peace, and ease our natural human suffering caused by exterior forces.
As alive humans, we also breathe. Our breath is our life force, referred to as “prana.” But the daily stresses of our life literally take our breath away. We’ve all had those moments when we stop and realize we’re cutting our breath short …and then we exhale …and our shoulders usually drop an inch …and we sigh, “ahh!” It’s because our body wants more breath! Learn a multitude of breathing excersises to assist during times of stress, to generate energy and to enhance our everyday living.
